Junior Colleges Castillian has been a prominent part of the Alberton skyline since April 1997. The familiar site of the Castle reflects our commitment to treat our little ones like royalty.
We are proud to fall under the wing of the Junior Colleges Nursery Schools, a division of ADvTECH.
Our school has a staff complement of 38 and each of our staff strive to uphold the culture of excellence at the school. We follow the esteemed Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which allows “work through play”. It is an integrated approach based on the seven areas of learning. Castillian’s eleven classes, ranging in age from 3 months to Grade R, benefit from a school which is well equipped to enter and keep-up with our fast-paced, technological world. The children thoroughly enjoy a weekly whiteboard lesson which familiarizes them with the world of computers and makes weekly theme discussions even more interesting. Castillian also boasts two specialist teachers – a gross motor skills coach and a music teacher who place an emphasis on developing the child as a whole. We are extremely proud of our “pom-pom” girls and our choir who are regularly invited to perform at openings or functions.
The staff of Castillian are first-aid trained and our baby class is overseen by a qualified nursing sister, offering parents peace of mind that their little ones are in the best care available. The school is divided into two sections. The first being the ‘baby school’ which includes two potty-training classes, specializing in helping the toddlers attain this difficult, yet import ant milestone. The second, ‘The Big School’ with classes ranging from the 2-3-year-olds, through to our grade R’s
Parents and children get to enjoy several fun-filled days throughout the year, including a Grandparents Day, Sports Day, Graduation, Christmas Market, various entertainers and shows monthly and of course a spectacular annual concert. There are also several educational outings which some of the older classes are treated to, such as trips to Gold Reef City, Lory Park Zoo and the Planetarium.
